Pleasant chords ring from a jazz guitar on a quiet night. High piercing shrills wail from sirens rousing you from a deep sleep. Sounds are all around you. Some are soft and pleasant; others are loud and disagreeable. Think of all the sounds that you can think of. You have two ears. Your ears help you to hear. One ear working by itself could not do this very well.
